Birdwatching Tours Alpujarras, Sierra Nevada, Andalucia

Join us for Birdwatching Tours and excursions in the beautiful southern foothills of the Alpujarras and Sierra Nevada mountains. Andalucia offers some of Spain's most spectacular birdlife. Based in the village of Lanjaron in the heart of the Alpujarras, we can show you the rich variety of birding highlights the region has available.

The Tours
We are passionate about the area and it's birdlife. We offer guided tours in 4x4 transport, in small groups, to ensure we get the best the region can provide. View our Tour Reports and Sightings lists to see the latest viewings. There is always something fantastic to view! Depending on local bird activity you might be taken to the Sierra de Lugar or the Wetlands around Padul. Above Lanjaron we have resident Golden Eagles and this past year we have had a lot of Griffon Vultures. The spectacular Bee Eater is common throughout the summer. The white villages of Capileira, Bubion , Cañar and Soportujar provide rich viewings in beautiful surroundings.

We also run week long birding holidays in Mallorca. This birding paradise is one of the major bird centres in Europe. We frequently see Marsh Harriers, Black Vultures, Eleonora's Falcon amongst many others here. Visits are made to the S'Albufera, Cuber, Formentor and Boquer areas.

The Website
You will find much information about our tours and birdlife on this site. Also we report any news or frequent sightings.  Much of the site is "interactive" and we encourage you to assist with any information you can provide. Please feel free to log in and contribute.

The Birds of the Alpujarras

Our magnificent Golden and Bonelli´s Eagles are joined by large numbers of Booted and Short-toed Eagles as they return from their wintering grounds in Africa in the spring. Migrant Lesser Kestrels too breed locally...we have Egyptian Vultures drifting through early in the year, and towards the end of summer spectacular Griffon Vultures can be found soaring over the hillsides above the village.

Our Southern Grey Shrikes and flamboyant Hoopoes can be seen all year, with migrant Woodchat Shrikes and beautiful Golden Orioles nesting each year in and around the village. Noisy flocks of Bee Eaters add a tropical splash of colour throughout the season...and with Blue Rock Thrush, Rock Thrush, Black Wheatear and Black-eared Wheatear all seen regularly we've got some of the best birdwatching in Europe on our doorstep!
