Birdwatch Alpujarras

Andalucia has some of the most spectacular bird watching in Europe. We offer guided birding excursions throughout the year from our village base of Lanjaron in the Alpujarras, the beautiful southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. From barren mountain peaks to lowland marshland and coastal lagoons, our bird watch tours are created to bring you the very best birding this beautiful region has.

Whether we’re watching Griffon Vultures soaring over the limestone crags of El Torcal, visiting the Greater Flamingos of Fuente de Piedra, or even watching Bee-eaters at their nest sites in the Sierra Morena, we’ll organise your trip to suit all your individual needs and make the most of the time you have available. It may just be a few hours, or a few days, whatever the time of year, there’s always plenty to see.

Our spectacular Golden and Bonelli’s Eagles patrol the hillsides above the village throughout the year, joined by large numbers of migrant Short-toed and Booted Eagles in the spring. Some of Europe’s most exotic species breed locally:Golden Orioles and Hoopoe both nest around the village, and flocks of exquisite Bee-eaters bring a seasonal splash of colour to the warm, sunny days of summer.

Situated between Granada and Orgiva, Malaga airport is the main international airport of the region and has flights arriving from up to thirty UK airports throughout the year.

This birding paradise is one of the major bird centres in Europe. Patagonia is a destination we are venturing into, we will be offering cost only trips to this incredible area, visiting the areas around El Chalten and El Calafate. Mallorca has long been a favourite destination of ours. Originally for the great walking and scrambling opportunities provided by the Tramuntana mountains in the north west of the Island. Recently the birds have taken over! The area is one of the main birdwatching destinations in Europe. Our experience of the island will ensure you have a rewarding, interesting and exciting visit here.

If you have no need for a guide but could use the service of a driver and our vehicles to you to your chosen destination, contact us. Living here year round we have the inside knowledge of where the best place will be to locate certain species in this area. All we ask for is a contribution towards fuel.
