My nephews recently spent a few days at Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest whilst there they had a go at falconry. What a great way to introduce children to birds of prey up close and personal. My nephews are 5 and 7 years old and took with ease to having the birds on their arms and learning about the different species of birds.

They joined the Falconer Club for children aged 5 – 11. Amongst the birds they got to meet, handle and fly were Buzzard, Little Owl, Barn Owl and Kestrel. I think you can tell from the photos that they enjoyed their time spent with the Falconers Club. Many birds that are on the UK red and amber lists can be seen nesting in and around the village.
