Bee Eaters continue to appear in some numbers on the hillside above Lanjaron. At 12.40pm 4th April a flock of some 10 or so birds noisily passed overhead, and for the first time soared and swooped higher up the hill before moving on. I heard but didn’t see what sounded like smaller groups for the next couple of hours.

Around 2.30pm decided to go up the mountain for a short walk, saw Bee Eaters circling from a distance. Usual sightings of Blue and Great Tits, Serin and Chaffinches, Blackcap and Sardinian Warblers. Thought a Short-toed Eagle and Lesser Kestrel had finished the walk nicely but on the way down found a Blue Rock Thrush. Great views for 5-10 mins, managed some photos…see slideshow below.
