I have been lucky enough to have watched a Booted Eagle family over the past few months and it has been a delight. Most of this was done from the roof terrace of my house just above Lanjaron as they are nesting not far away.

I knew what times they would show up throughout the day which meant I did not have to sit out all day with my camera in the heat. They have been particularly vocal in the last few weeks building up to their migration. Ive just got back from a week in Mallorca and was anxious to know if they had left whilst id been away. Ive only seen the one Booted Eagle since returning, im assuming its the juvenile as its crying out alot and giving its position away.

I can only guess that the adults have started their migration and the juvenile will follow on once it is fit enough. Whilst out walking the dogs in the mornings ive been hearing the eagle in a tree near a path I use, today I went to investigate. I was not able to get too close to him before he flew out of the tree but he did follow us for a while enabling me to get some nice shots of him. I wonder how long it will be before he heads off on migration. I hope he has a safe journey and look forward to his return to the Alpujarras next year.

Below are a few pictures of the Booted Eagle I photographed this morning. Let me have your thoughts on whether its a juvenile or adult.
